Job Title: Patient Service Representative Job DescriptionIn this role, you will be responsible for guiding patients through their initial appointments by obtaining necessary preliminary information, estimating financial obligations, and educating them on insurance and financial assistance options. You will play a crucial part in ensuring patients understand their benefits and financial responsibilities while maintaining confidentiality and adherence to legal guidelines. Responsibilities * Obtain preliminary diagnosis, insurance coverage information, and demographics prior to a patient's first appointment. * Estimate insurance coverage, financial obligations, and complete patient cost estimate forms. * Prepare and complete reimbursement and liability forms for patients' first appointments. * Educate patients on insurance coverage, pre-authorizations, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses during their first appointment. * Assess patients' ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements. * Educate patients on financial assistance programs and provide assistance with completing forms when necessary. * Obtain insurance pre-authorization or referral approval codes prior to each treatment. * Review patient account balances and notify the front desk of patients to meet with. * Ensure patient co-pay amounts are correctly entered into the system. * Review and process refund requests and adjustments, and resolve delinquent payments with patients or payers. * Verify and update demographics and insurance coverage in the computer system at each patient visit. * Maintain relationships with financial aid providers and stay informed about available financial assistance. * Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPPA laws and guidelines regarding patient records. * Maintain updated manuals, logs, forms, and documentation. Essential Skills * Minimum three years of pre-services coordinator experience. * Two years of patient benefits experience. * Knowledge of CPT coding and HCPS coding manuals. * Ability to verbally communicate clearly with appropriate terminology. * Demonstrated knowledge and application of insurance coverage benefits and terminology. Additional Skills & Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Associate's degree in Finance or Business preferred. * Four years of revenue cycle experience preferred. * Oncology experience preferred. Work Environment This position requires onsite work at the Fredericksburg office, where you will engage with patients in an oncology-focused setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fredericksburg, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $22.50/hr.
