Job Summary

This role supports a strategic initiative to establish a cutting-edge additive and fabrication manufacturing process at our Newington facility. This is a dynamic role that blends Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities, including shop floor activities and structured engineering tasks. The candidate will demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and a solution-oriented mindset, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver results. Key duties include developing work instructions, specifying and sourcing equipment, supporting layout design, and driving industrialization through the MRL process. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in Aerospace manufacturing, motivated to make an impact, and adaptable to learn new technologies. As the project progresses the role will evolve into a full time Manufacturing Engineering position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal team members and external contractors on project initiatives to upgrade and enhance current industrial equipment and structure.
  • Specify, source, and drive installation/commissioning of new equipment.
  • Develop shop floor layouts and technical work instructions using NX CAD and authoring tools.
  • Decompose engineering requirements from drawings and specifications.
  • Development timelines, following up with project team members to ensure timely execution of actions and communicating project status with key stakeholders.
  • Support industrialization and NPI activities through the MRL process and compliance with aerospace standards:

    • AS9145, AS9100, NADCAP & Frozen process planning


  • Responsible for technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production.
  • Focal point for special processes including Heat Treatment, Additive Manufacturing and Welding

    • 1st line manufacturing process support
    • Ensure compliance to Specifications
    • Training and Certification of operators
    • Continuous improvement


  • Ensure capable manufacturing processes using SPC, error-proofing, and risk reduction.
  • Apply root cause analysis and corrective actions to eliminate non-conformances.
  • Embrace a continuous improvement environment by utilizing root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
  • Identify and reduce risks, implement error proofing techniques
  • Other engineering or operational tasks as needed.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical).
  • 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace environment preferred.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.
  • Proficient computer skills Microsoft Office and 3D modeling experience (NX).
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with ability to interpret business cases and make cost-conscious decisions.
  • Must be a US Person (Citizen or Green Card Holder) or have the ability to obtain the necessary Government licensing to work with controlled technology and products.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • GKN Experience.
  • Working knowledge of special processes and frozen process planning (welding & heat treat).
  • Working knowledge of construction practices.
  • Prepared to work on the complete range of GKN Aerospace programs, both civil and military.
  • Able to travel domestically or internationally as required.
  • Application of Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean Management tools and techniques.
  • Strong time management and project management skills.
  • Good reporting and communication skills on project status and progress.
  • Capable of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter preferred.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work, and deliver, under own initiative.
  • Experience working with diverse skill sets.
  • Proactive in regards to new developments of expertise required.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, strong minded and committed.
  • Strong understanding of troubleshooting techniques on errors and log files.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and ability to read part drawings.
