POSITION SUMMARY The Armed Security Officer assigned to the contractor's gate of a federal installation is responsible for enforcing access control, maintaining the safety and security of the installation, and ensuring compliance with federal and contractor security requirements. The officer monitors all personnel and vehicles entering the installation, conducts thorough vetting of contractors and visitors, and inspects vehicles for contraband, prohibited items, or unauthorized materials. The officer ensures that all personnel, vehicles, and government loads have the proper clearance and documentation before granting access. Maintaining constant situational awareness of the assigned access point is critical to identifying and responding to potential security threats or suspicious activity. The officer follows all post orders, standard operating procedures, and directives from supervisory personnel while providing a visible deterrent to unauthorized access or unsafe behavior. WORKING CONDITIONS May be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather. Subject to high noise levels. Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Standing a post for 8 to 16 hours while wearing duty equipment and personal protective equipment weighing up to 30 pounds (including a required ballistic vest) while exposed to all weather conditions. -
