The Sanitation Tech 2 is responsible for cleaning the bakery equipment & areas assigned to in the Bakery. They maintain the facility in hygienically clean, sanitary, and tidy condition on a shift basis in line with Aspire Bakeries expectations, as well as understanding the importance of Food Safety. Responsibilities:
- Perform all necessary tasks to ensure equipment is properly cleaned, sanitized, and ready for the next production run.
- Understand the operation and functionality of all sanitation cleaning equipment.
- Know the purpose and correct usage rates of all sanitizers and cleaning solutions.
- Ensure personal safety equipment is in good condition and used properly.
- Stay up to date with all Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) updates related to cleaning solutions and sanitizers.
- Demonstrate proficiency in cleaning freezers, silos, and fryers.
- Communicate relevant cleaning process information with coworkers and supervisors.
- Provide on-the-job training for new sanitation staff and assist with training activities that support manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with the team on major cleaning assignments.
- Work independently on projects with minimal supervision.
- Understand the operation and functionality of all plant waste removal equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all equipment and work areas, ensuring they are free of debris.
- Accurately document cleaning records for equipment and areas in compliance with Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
- Operate sanitation equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, pressure washers, and steam cleaners.
- Conduct plant walk-throughs to visually inspect tanks, blowers, chemical feed systems, aeration tanks, digesters, equalization tanks, and clarifiers.
- Document and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Perform general housekeeping tasks, including cleaning hand railings, floors, and grating.
- Conduct monthly maintenance of lab probes and equipment, ensuring proper documentation.
- Report any issues to Can-Do and complete monthly meter readings.
- Maintain operating journals and records related to sanitation duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- 1-2 years working in a sanitation role, preferably in bakery manufacturing
- Attention to detail, willingness to support where needed
- Spanish and/or English literacy - elementary level
- GMP/HACCP Certification; CPR/First Aid Certified
- Weekends, Holidays and some Overtime may be required.
Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level Required:
- High School Diploma /GED
- Reading, writing and basic math skills required
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing / light industrial
- 5+ years of experience in Sanitation / Janitorial
- Genie lift certification is required

- Standing / Walking / Climbing - Requires standing or walking for the entire duration of the shift.
- Lifting / Carrying / Twisting / Bending / Stooping - Frequent bending, twisting, and stooping are necessary. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds or more regularly.
- Pushing / Pulling - Frequently required to push or pull loads of 5 pounds or more.
- Manual Dexterity - Frequent hand and finger movements are needed for tasks such as washing, cleaning, laundering, and storing supplies.
- Sensory & Communication Skills - Adequate vision, hearing, and speaking abilities are essential for effective communication and workplace safety.
- Head / Neck Movement - Frequent neck flexing, extending, and turning is required.
- Environmental Conditions - Must be able to work for extended periods in cold, wet, dusty, or slippery conditions. Ability to work in high areas is required.
- Working at Heights - Must be comfortable working at extreme heights as needed
Shift: 2nd Pay Range: $22 - $23.25 Aspire Bakeries LLC values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. The final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to location, shift, education, skill, and experience within the job or the industry.
