Position: Senior Regional Credit Officer - San Antonio | Division: Commercial Credit| Work Days: Monday - Friday| Hours of Operation: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Position Overview: This role oversees loan portfolio management within assigned regions across multiple lines of business to ensure sound underwriting, loan closing, and portfolio administration practices. As the primary liaison between Bankers and the Credit Department, this role ensures the effective delivery of CRE, Middle Market, Business Banking, and Private Banking credit products to clients within designated territories. The Senior Regional Credit Officer also plays a key role in the development, recommendation, and implementation of policies governing the Bank's credit activities and supervises credit department staff to achieve performance goals. Essential Functions:
- Approve commercial, business, private banking, and commercial real estate loans within delegated lending authority and provide credit concurrence on actions above authority limits.
- Act as a member of the Senior Officers' Loan Committee and Senior Officers' Policy Committee, contributing expertise and insights on credit administration topics and making periodic presentations.
- Serve as the Chief Credit Officer's proxy during committee meetings and may assume the CCO's lending authority in their absence.
- Oversee credit approval responsibilities for new Commercial, Business Banking, and Private Banking opportunities by coordinating the effective use of Credit Department resources and Portfolio Managers.
- Manage the credit approval process for renewals and new prospect approvals, ensuring timely processing with the Credit Department.
- Play an integral role in maintaining and enhancing the Bank's Commercial Credit policy and guidelines in response to new product developments, market conditions, and regulatory changes.
- Act as the subject matter expert for credit administration within Business, Commercial, and Private Banking areas, providing training and mentorship for credit analysts, portfolio managers, and assistant relationship managers.
- Collaborate closely with Commercial, Business, Private Banking, and CRE teams to refine internal processes, enhancing external effectiveness for bankers.
- Supervise and coach Portfolio Managers within the Credit Department, including responsibilities for hiring, terminations, performance evaluations, and approving leave requests.
- Participate in seminars, training, and ongoing education to stay updated on compliance requirements, market trends, and best practices in loan processing.
- Assist as needed with workout, collection, and rehabilitation of commercial loans under Special Assets.
- Lead or contribute to special projects that may require presentations to Committees, Executive Management, or the Board of Directors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting overall credit management objectives.
- This position may require travel within the Bank's geographic area.
Experience & Education:
- 6+ years of experience in loan approval and management, with 10+ years in combined decision-making, underwriting, or lending roles, preferably within the Central Texas region.
- Proven ability to structure, develop, and make credit decisions on complex commercial, business banking, and private banking relationships, including commercial real estate credit structures.
- Bachelor's degree required; Graduate-level business degree preferred.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong credit analytical skills and organizational capabilities to manage high-volume workflows and meet critical transactional deadlines.
- Completion of formal credit training programs.
- Demonstrated independence and teamwork skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively with Bankers and Credit Administration.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Superior time management and decision-making abilities, with capacity for handling complex transactions autonomously.
- Robust interpersonal skills conducive to fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong adaptability to core banking systems and financial spreading software.
- Ability to effectively lead, coach, and develop credit department staff, fostering an environment of high performance and accountability.
- Knowledgeable in regulatory compliance and industry best practices for loan processing and portfolio management.

- Familiarity with banking core systems, including financial spreading software, is essential.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and knowledge enhancement, participating actively in training and education relevant to credit and risk management.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull weights or otherwise move objects weighing as much as 10 lbs. on a regular basis and/or for extended periods of time during the workday.
