Job Summary

ABOUT THE JOB


We're looking for an experienced and technically strong Director Quality Control Aggregates to support our Aggregates business across the United States. In this leadership role, you will guide and develop Quality Control teams, troubleshoot complex technical issues, support operations, and uphold Cemex's commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality aggregate products. This role plays a critical part in strengthening our technical image, enhancing customer relationships, and ensuring that our aggregates meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations. The position reports to the VP of Operations Support.

Job Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO



As a Director Quality Control - Aggregates at Cemex, your responsibilities will include:



  • Lead, coach, and develop QC Managers and Supervisors, including training, skill development, and performance management.
  • Partner with Operations and Plant Managers to eliminate rework, reduce waste, and resolve quality issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the CEMEX technical brand and customer perception.
  • Participate in and lead complex troubleshooting efforts for aggregate performance issues.
  • Develop and oversee proactive customer engagement programs, including customer seminars and training.
    Assist in developing technical presentations related to aggregate testing and performance.
  • Collaborate with Technical Services and Quality Assurance teams to maintain consistent, high-quality product standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the Aggregate Material Master team.
  • Actively participate in relevant industry technical organizations (NSSGA, ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, etc.), as assigned by leadership.
  • Perform other duties or special assignments as required.

Qualifications

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR



To succeed in this role, you should bring:



  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in building materials industries (aggregates, bulk materials), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Strong understanding of industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-changing environment.
      Technical knowledge of building materials, customer applications, and product performance.
    • Working knowledge of construction materials testing: aggregates, soils, asphalt, concrete.
    • Familiarity with industry standards (ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, relevant U.S. building codes).


  • Educational and Licensing Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Materials Science required.
    • ACI Certification and Aggregate Testing Technician Certification preferred.
    • Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation preferred.


  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation experience.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and SAP; experience with Stonemont QC is a plus.
    • Advanced analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to interpret specifications, technical reports, and performance data.
    • Excellent leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
    • Strong customer service focus and ability to maintain composure under pressure.
    • Ability to drive results, motivate teams, and uphold CEMEX values.

Working Conditions

WORKING CONDITIONS




  • Environment: Work will involve both office and aggregate plant environments, including exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Schedule: Long periods of standing and/or walking may be required.
  • Safety First: Wearing protective equipment and adhering to all safety protocols is mandatory.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Regularly required to talk and hear to safely communicate around heavy equipment.
  • Work Schedule: Employees are expected to work varying shifts as needed, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to meet operational demands.
  • Work Location: This position is required to be performed in person at the assigned worksite. Remote work is not available for this role.
