Mechanical Engineer Senior / Specialist
Overview The successful candidate will contribute to the design and construction support of the VIRGINIA Class submarine program at Electric Boat's Quonset Point facility and the Groton Shipyard. This individual will be cognizant of components associated the VIRGINIA Payload Module (VPM) payload tubes and mechanical hatches. Waterfront Mechanical Engineering's role is to provide engineering and design oversight for drawings, components, and systems. A Waterfront Engineer must also engage in a collaborative working relationship with many different stakeholders, including vendors, other engineering disciplines, shipyard personnel, and technical support groups. Waterfront Engineers will also work closely with the Electric Boat Design Union to maintain the VIRGINIA Class design drawings and products. A Waterfront Engineer will be tasked with supporting the procurement of components from the vendor base, troubleshooting systems during new construction, and providing engineering support of the systems during post-delivery service periods. Newly hired engineers will be assigned a mentor for a period to assist in learning the Engineering duties and on the job training will be provided to ensure procedure compliance and safety. Responsibilities:
