Overview

Central Gas Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Engineer to join our team. This position plays a key role in supporting critical gas engineering initiatives and ensuring operational excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, a commitment to quality, and alignment with Con Edison's core values and mission.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform System Condition Assessments to identify and document system or component deficiencies, review equipment operation, and generate and drive corrective actions.
  • Review and maintain System Descriptions, P&IDs and other design basis documentation.
  • Perform root cause analysis of component failures and forced outage.
  • Provide engineering support to the Astoria LNG Plant and the Hunts Point Compressor Station.
  • Participate in project planning, outages and construction processes.
  • Generate or review acceptance test plans and oversee or observe testing/commissioning.
  • Interface with and track activities of equipment and service providers, both inside and outside the Company.
  • Generate detailed reports and presentations to inform and guide Central Engineering capital planning and all levels of management.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 8 years of engineering work experience in the
  • gas or power generation industries, or
  • Master's Degree with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 6 years of engineering work experience in the gas or power generation industries.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Thorough knowledge of gas or power generation equipment and systems, required.
  • Knowledge of utility industry safety standards and process safety measures, required.
  • Ability to obtain an in-depth knowledge of Company industry codes, standards, procedures, and specifications related to LNG plant design and compressor station systems, required.
  • Ability to deliver exemplary customer service, required.
  • Must possess strong technical competence, be well organized, and detail oriented, required.
  • Must be flexible to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities and meet deadlines, required.
  • Must have a high regard for personal accountability, and understand the critical importance of Commitment to Engineering Excellence, required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to positively motivate others, required.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively interact with colleagues, internal/external customers, agencies, and various levels of management, required.
  • Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), required.
  • Experience in LNG plant design and compressor station systems design, preferred.
  • Must demonstrate a high energy level and promote a positive work ethic in support of our Corporate Values.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
  • Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
