Maintenance Team Lead

As a part of our manufacturing group, you will be responsible for preventative and reactive maintenance of processing and packaging equipment and providing technical support to improve and optimize within the manufacturing operations and processes.

Shift hours: Currently Hiring on Night Shift

You will be scheduled to work 12-hour shifts on a 2, 2, 3 Schedule

  • 6 pm - 6 am on a 2-2-3 schedule
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Plant operation is 24 hours a day 7 days a week - When demand increases, hours and days can increase

Pay:

  • Starting Rate $36.43 per hour
  • Additional $2 per hour for hours worked on 3rd shift.
  • Additional $3 per hour when CARO certification has been successfully completed

What your day will look like:

  • Repair and maintain production equipment and facilities during assigned production shift to meet budget levels in quality and quantity
  • Work closely with Production department to troubleshoot and identify root cause of maintenance issues.
  • Work with Planner to create or update PM's based on root cause analysis to prevent breakdown reoccurrence.
  • Responsible to assign daily PM's and manage their completion.
  • Responsible to perform extensive repair on equipment. i.e., conveyors, elevators, bearing etc.
  • Respond to requested work orders and complete the required documentation.
  • Responsible to assist where needed in case of equipment failure to minimize product loss.
  • Responsible to perform work which meets an acceptable level of quality i.e., structurally sound welds, proper installation of parts.
  • Responsible to perform work which meets an acceptable level of quality i.e., proper installation of parts in accord with manufacturers recommendations.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company standards and established safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • In order to be qualified for this position you must be able to achieve the RETA CARO certification within 18 months of employment with General Mills.

What you have to offer:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; technical certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial maintenance environment. Ammonia refrigeration experience is highly preferred.
  • CARO (Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator) certification preferred but not required at time of hire; must obtain CARO certification within 18 months as a condition of employment.
  • Knowledge of PSM/RMP, OSHA, and EPA regulations related to ammonia systems preferred.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Proficient in English
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
  • Skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, ammonia troubleshooting and repair of production equipment
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of PLC operation, electrical components and systems troubleshooting, including use of a multimeter
  • Basic shop equipment (mill, lathe, grinder, presses, etc) preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
