ANALYGENCE is seeking a highly skilled Senior Range Engineer SME to lead advanced Cyber Range Engineering and Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) in support of enterprise-level Air Force cyber missions. In this critical role, the Sr. Range Engineer SME will serve as the chief technical authority driving the engineering, integration, and operational excellence required to build and sustain complex cyber range environments. This position provides advanced engineering leadership across virtualization, cloud architectures, network design, and defensive capability integration while driving innovation and technical excellence across all range operations. Beyond technical leadership, the Sr. Range Engineer SME will serve as a primary liaison and Systems Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) contractor, providing engineering management and analysis services to the government. The individual will ensure seamless coordination, clear communication, and mission-aligned execution between the government customer, supporting mission partners, and operational units to deliver world-class cyber readiness and defensive cyber range capability development.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • Lead the design, implementation, and sustainment of cyber range environments tailored for DCO missions, including enterprise network replicas, adversary emulation frameworks, and defensive tool stacks.
  • Oversee the technical architecture and operations for range execution supporting large-scale DCO events, mission rehearsals, and weapon system defense scenarios.
  • Coordinate with CPTs, MDTs, AFIN teams, and DoD mission partners to tailor range capabilities to defensive mission objectives.
  • Provide SME expertise across the DCO mission lifecycle: network mapping, log analysis, anomaly detection, hunting, incident containment, and remediation strategies.
  • Lead modernization initiatives and evaluate emerging blue-team technologies and recommend adoption to enhance operational readiness.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and subject-matter expertise to engineers, operators, and mission partners, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 15+ years of experience in range-related roles including cyber operations, cyber defense, and cyber range engineering.
  • IAT Level III certification required.
  • Experience working with Air Force cyber units such as the 688th Cyberspace Wing, Cyber Protection Teams (CPTs), Mission Defense Teams (MDTs), and/or Air Force Information Network Defensive Cyber Operations teams (AFIN DCO teams).
  • Experience with Cyber Mission Systems and Air Force Weapon Systems, including hands-on knowledge of their cybersecurity architecture, mission applications, operational dependencies, and defensive control implementations.
  • Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk), laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity and privacy.
  • Experience with cybersecurity and privacy principles, cyber threats and vulnerabilities, specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses.
  • Ability to lead DCO-focused technical teams and engage with mission partners.
  • Ability to lead technical planning, range design, and debriefs with mission-focused clarity.
  • Strong analytical thinking, documentation skills, and innovation mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
