Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to play a key role in Alnylam's core accounting operations in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including monthly close, audits, systems, and application of accounting policies. This role requires exceptional attention to detail and the ambition and willingness to learn continuously.

Reporting to the Accounting Senior Manager, this hands-on role will collaborate closely with the entire accounting team, cross-functional teams, and key external partners. You will play a critical role in shaping a world-class accounting function that supports the company's continued growth and financial excellence.

The successful candidate will be results-driven, detail-oriented, and an exceptional communicator with strong interpersonal skills and dedication to continuous improvement.

This position ishybridand will be primarily located inCambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing monthly close activities, such as preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and analytical reviews
  • Play a key role in the monthly, quarterly and annual close activities in accordance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Support accounting for cash, corporate and clinical accruals, fixed assets, leases, and other areas
  • Collaborate with our internal teams to ensure relevant information is shared timely, including R&D, tax, treasury, FP&A, human resources, legal and others as needed
  • Support the external reporting process, coordinating with the SEC reporting team to ensure that key inputs are provided timely
  • Ensure internal controls over financial reporting operate effectively in accordance with SOX requirements and assist with design and implementation of new controls as the complexity of operations increases
  • Support improvement and building of appropriate systems and processes to facilitate timely and accurate monthly accounting and financial close process
  • Support process improvement activities, including enhancing current financial processes and leveraging technology to realize process efficiencies while maintaining a high quality of financial reporting
  • Provide explanations and direct feedback to the Accounting Senior Manager related to accounting adjustments to support the accounting close
  • Support ad hoc projects and analyses, as assigned by team leaders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or private industry is required
  • CPA license or progress toward CPA strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with SOX compliance preferred
  • Global clinical and commercial biotech experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
