Central Research Laboratories (CRL), the Remote Handling business within DESTACO is a key P&L serving the Life Sciences (pharmaceutical, radio-pharmaceutical and bio-containment) and Nuclear market segments. Our products are recognized in the marketplace under the CRL brand.

Position Summary:

The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for shipment of products. This position is responsible for outbound freight and air shipments to include international shipping as well. This position requires a strong focus on administrative duties/responsibilities to include record organization and retention. The shipping coordinator demands a robust customer service mindset with a high level of multitasking skills. This position reports to the Materials Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensures that all responsibilities and functions performed are in accordance with company policy, procedures, and meet required quality standards.
• Gathers, verifies, and packs items for shipment according to specifications and transportation methods used.
• Configures, packages, and labels orders to minimize potential for damage during transit to the customer site.
• Reviews future customer orders to manage workload and ensure commitments to customers are met.
• Responsible for accurately performing inventory transactions.
• Self-sufficient in routine assigned tasks and capable of independent follow-up related to these tasks.
• Operates material handling equipment as required to move parts, fixtures and materials.
• Must be able to obtain power industrial truck certification
• Ensures on-time delivery of product.
• Problem solves for customers and suppliers about shipping routes, delayed items, and rush orders
• Keeps organized shipping records, including statements of origin, shipping costs, products shipped, and receipt dates
• Performs administrative duties like answering phones, updating records, and providing excellent customer service
• Troubleshoots shipping issues and customer issues that pop up regularly; works to solve these administrative or organizational issues to ensure commitments to our customer are met.
• Develops knowledge about domestic and international shipping regulations and practices
• Oversee the transfer, tracking, and coordination of materials between on-site and offsite warehouse locations.
• Capable of following operating procedures to achieve productivity targets.
• Utilizes basic math and problem-solving abilities.
• Reports all non-conformances to appropriate levels.
• Conducts safety inspections of equipment operated (i.e. hi-lo, lift truck, etc.)
• Advises manager of conduct that may violate rules, policies, and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Safety - Understands safe operation of equipment, tools and PPE. Recognizes potential for dangerous situations; uses safe work practices. Utilizes behavior-based safety methods to sustain a safe working environment.
• Communication - Expresses thoughts clearly, both orally and in writing, using good grammar. Listens to understand input, feedback and concerns. Provides complete information in an open, honest and straightforward manner. Responds promptly and positively to questions and requests.
• Accountability - Accepts responsibility regarding projects/programs/duties as outlined in this job description. Advises manager of concerns, problems and progress of work in a timely manner.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with MS Word and MS Excel
• Experience with LTL, Air & Ocean Shipments both domestic and international
• Minimum 1 year experience with powered industrial vehicles
• Must be able to work well in a team environment and display a sense of urgency in serving the customer
• Oracle experience preferred

Education and Certification Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent education or experience

• Eye hand coordination and attention to detail
• Ability to bend, twist and turn.
