We are seeking a highly experienced Data Modeler / Data Architect to support the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) within its Information Technology Directorate (ITD). NCIS enables global law enforcement, counterintelligence, cyber operations, insider threat mitigation, and security missions for the Department of the Navy. This role directly contributes to enterprise data modernization-ensuring NCIS systems are structured, aligned, and optimized for secure information sharing, advanced analytics, and mission-critical decision-making. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Senior Data Modeler / Data Architect will lead the design, development, and governance of NCIS' enterprise data architecture. This role is responsible for defining how data is stored, consumed, integrated, and managed across the organization-ensuring alignment with business requirements, technical constraints, and NCIS' strategic vision. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in data strategy, data modeling, master data management, metadata management, data governance, data architecture, and analytics enablement. This position plays a key role in establishing common vocabularies, defining enterprise data standards, enabling secure data flows between systems, and developing the structural blueprints essential for NCIS' modernization efforts. This role requires strong conceptual thinking, deep data domain expertise, and the ability to communicate clearly with both executive stakeholders and technical teams. NCIS Mission Context NCIS is responsible for global criminal investigations, counterintelligence operations, counterterrorism activities, insider threat detection, cyber operations, and security for the Navy and Marine Corps. To execute this mission, NCIS increasingly relies on unified, high-integrity data to drive operational analytics, threat intelligence, investigations, and real-time decision-making. The Senior Data Modeler / Data Architect plays a central role in building the data foundation required for a modern, secure, and agile NCIS enterprise. This position ensures that data from across the organization is structured, integrated, governed, and available-directly enabling NCIS to anticipate threats, protect personnel, and maintain global operational readiness. Responsibilities RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the development and implementation of NCIS' data architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, business needs, and mission requirements.
