ABOUT THE ROLE

FOX is seeking an experienced and dynamic Live Media Manager to oversee, manage, and support all live programming for its major broadcast and cable networks, with a strong emphasis on live sporting events across FOX, FS1, FS2, FSR, FSP, Fox Deportes, and Tubi. This leadership role demands a meticulous focus on event oversight, personnel management, and workflow optimization from preparation through live execution.

The Manager, Live Media will oversee, manage, and support the day-to-day operation for all Live programming for the multiple Broadcast and Cable Networks, serving as a key point of contact for client requirements and live event requests. This position requires coordinating with the Live Integration Team and broader Broadcast Operations staff to manage all on-air and off-air scenarios.

You will be responsible for ensuring that all linear and digital properties are fully prepared to support live events, including managing media aspects and implementing contingency planning for overrun scenarios. This role also includes responsibility for managing the necessary media delivery workflows and procedures that are required to support the Live Integration Team.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Oversight & Workflow Management

  • Oversee, manage, and support the day-to-day operation of all live programming across FOX's Broadcast and Cable Networks.

  • Serve as a primary lead during FOX Network live events, overseeing all aspects of execution, coordination, and issue resolution in real time.

  • Ensure that linear and digital platforms are accounted for and prepped for any overrun scenarios.

  • Manage all media delivery workflows and procedures required to support live content and the Live Integration Team.

Personnel Management & Development

  • Assist in scheduling technical operators, working closely with other departments to meet the labor demands of live sports broadcasts.

  • Manage employees who will report directly to you.

  • Collaborate with the team to produce schedule for Live Integration team, including the assignment and coordination of team members to ensure appropriate staffing coverage for regular programming and high-volume event days.

  • Motivate and develop high-performing team member to deliver high-quality results.

  • Inspire a culture of continuous learning, especially in emerging technologies.

Collaboration & Performance

  • Act as a lead point of contact for client requirements and requests for live events.

  • Partner with the Engineering and Operations team to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

  • Promote the use of real-time analytics to make key operational decisions.

  • Track operations workflows and constantly look for ways to make things work better, faster, and smoother.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Supervisory Experience: 5+ years managing or supervising teams is required.

  • Media Operations: Extensive experience with media operations and technical transmission systems is necessary.

  • Fast-Paced Decisions: Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions, especially in a live event context.

  • Live Sports Focus: Direct experience supervising or managing all live sports activities within master control operations is a significant asset.

General Qualifications and Technical Knowledge

  • Master Control/Playout Systems: Full understanding of master control playout automation systems is essential.

  • Media/Systems Expertise: Deep knowledge of playout automation system, on-air graphics devices, server playout and configuration, and on-air tickers.

  • Problem-Solving: Capability of quickly restoring all technical failures to avoid revenue loss during playout origination.

  • Communication: Ability to translate and communicate business requirements into operational and technical requirements.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Industry Standards: Knowledge of industry standards such as Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) and Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) is beneficial.

  • Education: A bachelor's degree is awesome, but not required; experience is also highly valued.

  • Software: Proficiency at Microsoft Excel and Google Docs is useful.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $102,000.00-115,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
