Overview
Keeps assigned applications operational by testing product upgrades, providing customer support and problem-solving customer issues. Plans for information systems and services from a perspective of application design, development, installation, or database administration in accordance with SRNS IT processes and procedures. Provides tactical design, engineering, technical specications, project coordination, and conguration management for moderately complex IT solutions. Assists more senior technical personnel in performing related activities in moderately complex tasks.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the Software Professional Lead and the customer/owner to understanding and apply your knowledge of the functional and system requirements
- Maintain technical expertise in assigned emphasis areas and demonstrate exibility in multiple disciplines
- Proactively communicate and coordinate with others across IT to provide support for assigned areas Perform other tasks associated with application development lifecycle, commercial o the shelf software support and database administration:
- Perform root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for complex problems
- Ensure continued service of customer applications through prompt correction of system or program malfunctions and applying a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities
- Master software engineering tools such as conguration management systems, change management, vulnerability scanning, and debuggers in the software development process
- Guide personnel to ensure ecient utilization of resources and adherence to technical standards, lead the analysis and development of requirements, design specs, and nal products by reviewing systems documentation, plans, and schedules produced by less experienced personnel
- Train less experienced personnel in the development of requirements, specications, technical products and existing business processes
- Lead moderate sized initiatives and projects by establishing tasks, priorities, milestones, cost estimates, and schedules
- Conduct feasibility studies of automation opportunities and establish cost benet parameters
- Develop test plans and execute these plans to ensure that the software is correct
- Participate in validation and eciency reviews of completed program code
- Review policies and procedures for technical accuracy
- Participate in cross-functional IT teams
- Evaluate new requests, oer suggestions to improve, provide comments and estimates level of eort for moderately complex IT solutions
- Provide support for the software infrastructure associated with the system environments
- Maintain cyber posture and compliance required to maintain federal authority to operate
- Perform installations and upgrades to software and databases for maintaining vendor support and strategic agility
- Plan for future requirements of database systems, to include disaster recovery needs and storage requirements
- Protect operations by keeping information condential.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Bachelor's degree in an IT related discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Technology. Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with 5 years proven performance in related assignments; or Non-related Bachelor degree with 7 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or Associate Degree in IT related discipline (e.g. Information Technology, Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with 7 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or Non-related Associate Degree with 9 years proven performance in related assignment(s). In lieu of degree, a high school diploma with typically at least 11 years of equivalent knowledge and experience is acceptable.
Experience/Skills:
- Knowledge of the academic as well as the practical aspects of Software Engineering is Ongoing technical development in Software Engineering is required.
- Demonstrates an applied understanding of computer languages, software development fundamentals/methodology and database infrastructure.
- Demonstrates programming skills that include analyzing information, software design, requirements, testing, documentation, problem solving, debugging and software development fundamentals/methodology.
- Demonstrate prociency and experience necessary to develop moderately complex
- Demonstrates ability to utilize software engineering tools such as conguration management systems, change management, scanning, and debuggers in the software development
- Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision to complete projects in a timely manner, make time for unplanned assignments and adapt to changing priorities.
- Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques; has working knowledge of standard software engineering practices and
- Candidate must demonstrate 15 or more years' experience in software engineering related positions, including a minimum of 10 years' experience on DOE projects.
- Candidate must demonstrate experience participating in systems engineering teams, with responsibilities including software engineering and program development to support systems engineering initiatives.
- Candidate must be able to work independently and within a multi-discipline
- Prior SRS experience and working knowledge of SRNS processes and procedures is

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
Additional Experience Qualications
- Fluent with JavaScript, VB, C+, and / or Python (Required)
- Experience developing Rational DOORS Requirements Management Extensions (Preferred)
Additional Work Requirements
- Area Security Access: Clearance "Q" required. Subcontractor must have an active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE / NNSA.
Additional Experience Qualications

Additional Work Requirements

Work Hours: A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; ve days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, ve days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.
