We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Pump Service Technician to join our team. This position involves servicing, repairing, and maintaining various types of pumps both in our workshop and at customers onsite location. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Duties:
- Disassemble, inspect, and diagnose pumps and pump systems in the workshop.
- Perform repair, rebuilding, and reassembly of pumps to manufacturer or company specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of service work performed, including parts used and hours worked.
- Clean, test, and prepare pumps for delivery or return to customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop environment and comply with safety procedures.
- Assist with inventory control and parts ordering as required.
Onsite Duties
- Travel to customer sites to perform installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of pumps.
- Provide technical support and recommendations to customers on pump operation and maintenance.
- Perform pump alignment, vibration analysis, seal replacement, and other mechanical repairs as needed.
- Ensure proper documentation of field service activities, including service reports and customer signoffs.
- Always adhere to safety protocols and site-specific requirements.
- Act as a company representative by maintaining a professional appearance and providing excellent customer service.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in mechanical/electrical fields preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in pump service, maintenance, or related mechanical trade.
- Proficient in working with various pump types (centrifugal, diaphragm, submersible, gear, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a variety of environments (indoor, outdoor, confined spaces).
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record; CDL may be required for some roles.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends or emergency callouts as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Capable of standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Ability to work in noisy, dusty, or greasy environments using appropriate PPE.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of pump controls, VFDs, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Certification in rigging, forklift operation, or confined space entry is a plus.
- Experience with CMMS or service management software.
