JOB SUMMARY This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job. Responsible for the implementation and management of two enterprise-wide programs in the Family Centered Care Department: Family Advisor and Self-Management Programs. Provides strategic development, management, planning and oversight of the FCC department with efforts and related programs and activities to support Stanford Children's Health's mission and vision. The Manager ensures that Family Centered Care program adheres to the practices and principles of Family Centered Care. In addition, the Manager strives to embed FCC practices and principles in all aspects of care at SMCH: clinical care; policy development; patient safety, quality improvements and research endeavors. The Manager works at both the operational and strategic levels to assure that SMCH is a family-centered institution. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification. Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct. *Assists in the operational and strategic oversight of the Family Centered Care program. Provides input into SMCH operational and strategic initiatives with the aim of embedding family centered practices and principles throughout SMCH. Manages two enterprise-wide programs for the Family Centered Care Department the Family Advisor Program and Parent Support Programs. Develops and tracks expenditures and assists in budget management of the Dept of Family Centered Care annual budget. Assists Director with building budget each fiscal year. Engages in clinical decision-making to assure FCC program scope and integrity. *Responsible for the quality assurance for the Family Centered Care program. Oversees the development and implementation of new family centered care programs and initiatives that aligns with SMCH goals and strategic initiatives. Tracks department metrics. Develops dashboard to track program progress and make data driven program decisions. Provides insight and understanding of psychosocial principles and trauma-informed care in programs work with parents and patients/families. *Develop partnerships with operations leaders to facilitate embedding Family Centered Care practices into clinical workflows. *Maintains consistent communication with stakeholders on FCC program expectations, barriers, and opportunities. Escalates issues to Director of Patient and Family Experience. *Oversees the Family Centered Care team members and all responsibilities of those positions. Performs all key management responsibilities for the functional area (e.g. budgeting and financial management; human resources management; performance management; compliance and quality assurance). *This position provides leadership to ensure attainment of functional objectives, development, and serves as a resource to patients, families, and staff. Collaborates with organizational leaders to enhance the resources available and provided to patients and families through family center care services. *Accountable for ensuring parent mentor services for patients and families caregivers are designed with attention to the social and emotional impact of illness or disability. *Acts as an educational resource and provides consultation to staff, patients and their families, hospital medical personnel regarding parent mentor and advisor integration into family support plans and organizational consultation. *Participates in quality and service improvement activities by identifying opportunities for improvement in utilization of resources and concurrent data collection; participates in any process improvement teams within the department, service lines, and hospital that requires a family-centered care lens or involvement of parent mentors in providing caregivers with psychosocial or practical support. *Participates in department program planning, goal setting, systems development and process improvement; participates in department and hospital committees and task forces; develops and maintains documentation of findings, coordinated care arrangements, and actions taken according to departmental guidelines; prepares and maintains records as required; collects, analyzes and reports on data for patient care quality improvement, compliance, and other areas as assigned. *Provide managerial oversight and guidance to parent employees supporting our patients and families. Ensures an effective and coordinated FCC program. Evaluates and assesses the FCC programs offered to determine effectiveness, use and future needs. Develops and maintains community relations for the purpose of securing FCC resources for hospital patients and their families. *Directs the operations of all departments including driving activities to ensure effective planning, marketing, and service delivery addressing illness management and impact upon patient and family unit. *The Manager collaborates with Manager of Patient Experience Improvement to identify opportunities where parents can partner with improvement efforts within the organization and define clear scope and training. *Responsible for programmatic resource allocation for the FCC department. Partners with the operational and clinical leadership teams to develop, refine, and execute operational goals and identify gaps in family centered care practices, build readiness for engagement, and organize resources to be deployed in strategic areas of opportunity. *Assists in the development of strategic initiatives and business plans for the Family Centered Care Department. *Contributes to the expansion of current FCC programs and increasing health equity of the services offered. *Responsible for identifying areas of opportunity for the organization to further develop the parent voice and proactively work to recruit partnerships in that area to bring in additional patients into our system. QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification. *Ability to provide exceptional leadership and effective management in all areas of business, strategy, analytics, administration, project completion, information technology and relationship development *Knowledge of principles of management, strategic planning, leadership development and education techniques *Ability to lead diverse teams. *Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with widely diverse groups, including individuals at all levels both within and outside the organization. *Understanding of psychosocial principles and trauma-informed care. *Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines. *Ability to conduct analysis and formulate conclusions. *Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Quickbase, Asana, and Outlook. *A working knowledge of the clinical experience of patients and families in hospital settings. *Working knowledge of the structure and function of inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. *Knowledge of psychosocial management strategies that create a supportive environment for staff providing direct services to patients and families.
