Position Summary

At its foundation, project management is the discipline of planning, monitoring, and controlling a temporary endeavor that yields a tangible outcome. The Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) Project Management Intern will be a valued member of the OTECH PMO and assist with project management responsibilities throughout their internship. Assignments will be commensurate with the student's academic background and professional competencies (soft skills) and will leverage the student's expertise to provide real-life, value-added application of their classroom knowledge. Project management is a dynamic, fast paced, and fun discipline where no two days are alike.

Our office is located in Hanover, MD; and since this is a hybrid-work position, an applicant must be able to work in the office at least four days a week.


Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL:

  • Partner with various members of the Project Management Directorate to learn about being a Project Manager (PM), accompany team members to meetings and assist colleagues with their daily duties.
  • Review articles and publications and conduct research related to actual project issues and business pursuits and brief the staff.
  • Review project files, reports and processes to identify missing information, redundant information and opportunities to better organize and execute the tasks needed to get to done; collaborate with colleagues to collect their updates and feedback; prepare a summary of findings and recommendations.
  • Reach out to colleagues to obtain current status on proposals, contracts, and other agreements.
  • Identify, document and analyze objective data and metrics important to a PM's duties and responsibilities.
  • Generate ideas for updating the department's SharePoint site and coordinate with colleagues to research technology, software and tools for optimizing project management.
  • Act as brand ambassador for the organization both internally and externally.

ADDITIONAL:

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Current enrollment in accredited college or university pursing a degree. Applicants should be completing their sophomore or junior year.
  • Enthusiasm for learning, a collaborative spirit, strong-interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly establish rapport with colleagues.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; organizational skills; ability to digest, analyze and summarize new information and confidence to ask for help when needed.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during the summer.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

DESIRED:

  • 3.0+ cumulative GPA.
  • Academic excellence and extracurricular activities.

Additional Information

This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
