Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Conyers, GA

What we are looking for:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is a critical, highly visible role responsible for driving significant operational excellence and manufacturing capability improvements within the Fabrication (sheet metal, tube/piping fabrication) and Electrical Panel Assembly areas. This position acts as a change agent, leading major factory transformations, managing capital expenditure projects, and embedding Lean methodologies to achieve sustained productivity, quality, and cost targets.

What you will be responsible for in this role:

Operational Excellence and Process Improvement

  • Lean Deployment:Lead the deployment, and sustainment of the company's Operational Excellence (OpEx) model, specifically focusing onStandard Work (SW),Leader Standard Work (LSW), andTier Accountability Processesin assigned areas.
  • Kaizen Leadership:Plan, lead, and execute targeted Kaizen events and rapid improvement projects to eliminate waste, improve quality, and reduce manufacturing cycle time.
  • Technical Analysis:Utilize advanced Lean Six Sigma tools, includingPFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)andPoka-Yoke(error-proofing), to identify and resolve complex manufacturing issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Capacity Planning:Conduct rigorous industrial engineering analysis, includingLine Balancing,Work Content Calculation, andHeadcount Calculation, to optimize resource utilization and support production volume requirements.

Major Projects and Capital Management

  • CapEx Management:Lead major capital projects from concept through final commissioning and successful handover to production. This includes justifying expenditures (ROI/NPV), managing vendor selection, and overseeing installation (e.g., Laser Booth, New Press, automated assembly solutions).
  • Automation Journey:Act as the technical lead for implementing new automation and technology within the focus factories, ensuring equipment and processes meet safety, quality, and production specifications.
  • Area Transformation:Lead and manage major layout and process reconfigurations necessary for plant restructuring or new product introductions, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Quality and Design Integration

  • Problem Solving:Utilize proficient, structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC, Red-X, DOE, etc.) to resolve high-impact chronic production and quality issues.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM):Serve as the manufacturing liaison, collaborating with the Design Engineering and Product Engineering teams to implementDesign Intended Cost Improvementand ensure optimal manufacturability and cost efficiency of new and revised products.

What are the basic qualifications?

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing engineering role within a fast-paced production environment.

What are the preferred qualifications?

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or 4-year degree and equivalent experience of related technical field.
  • Strong Electrical and/or Mechanical background required. Proficiency in designing, deploying, and auditing Standard Work, Line Balancing, and Capacity Planning.
  • Proficiency in structured Problem-Solving methodologies(e.g., 8D, A3) and experience facilitatingPFMEAworkshops.
  • CAD and CAM fundamentals knowledge and demonstrated skills
  • Demonstrated experience inLean Six Sigma methodologiesand practical application of tools like Kaizen, 5S, and Visual Management.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams and projects, including experience managingCapital Expenditure (CapEx)projects from justification through successful installation.
  • Change Leadership:Proven ability to influence and motivate change across all levels of the organization, particularly on the shop floor.
  • Analytical Thinking:Highly analytical, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear action plans and justifiable business cases (ROI).
  • Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical information clearly to technicians, managers, and executive leadership.

To be a great fit for the role:

  • Lean SixSigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt preferred)
  • Proficient in Excel, Minitab, Excel, Word, Visio
  • Experience or strong understanding ofRefrigerationcomponents, systems, or manufacturing processes is a significant plus
