The Hematopoietic (Stem) Cell Transplant Program at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is one of the largest and most experienced pediatric stem cell transplant programs in the world. Our integrated pediatric hematology/oncology program through Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children's Hospital provides - in one specialized program - all the services of both a leading cancer center and a pediatric hospital.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Under the supervision of the registered nurse the Clinical Assistant (CA) will help provide basic bedside nursing care for complex stem cell transplant patients.
  • In collaboration with the registered nurse, the CA is responsible for obtaining vital signs including oxygen saturation measurements, measuring intake and output, performing EKGs, and obtaining and labeling laboratory specimens; all while identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
  • The CA may assist with transporting patients, stocking of supplies and equipment as needed.
  • The CA role provides the opportunity to practice in a family centered environment.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
A HS Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
  • 1-year CA experience, CNA certification, or Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The ability to work within a team.
  • The ability to work a schedule of 36 hours/week, 12-hour shifts, 50% day/night rotation, every third weekend with holiday requirements.

Licensure/ Certifications:
  • CNA certification

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
