ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Position: Manager, Manufacturing and Process Engineering
Schedule: Monday-Friday (with weekends as needed)
Salary Range: $120,900 - $189,300 annually

ROLE SUMMARY

This is a management-level position that serves as the primary equipment, technology, and process strategist-leveraging cradle-to-grave capital project experience to ensure the Victorville site supports business growth.
Owner of equipment and process capability and capacity. Provides senior process engineering support for the facility with responsibility for overall engineering support for operational improvement and manufacturing programs, including continuous improvement teams and root cause analysis. Manages operational "Good to Great" cost savings program and CER capital projects.

Responsibilities include technical support to the Victorville Plant, production line design, equipment acquisition, and project commercialization (both facility and production related). This position recommends, develops, and implements appropriate plant systems to ensure process and product quality is consistent with Company quality policies & requirements. Also responsible for developing and tracking technical budgets for department activities along with capital forecasts for future facility needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions)
  • Promote a safety culture and awareness within the plant and area; support and adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and control budgets for technical department, including capital forecasts and annual department budget.
  • Develop and own the site master plan from a strategic growth perspective.
  • Design and implement engineering projects utilizing design for manufacturability concepts.
  • Develop and manage budgets for assigned functions or departments, including utility operating requirements.
  • Monitor plant and infrastructure issues and areas of concern.
  • Support Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training/orientation.
  • Review process value stream mapping and recommend staffing levels, materials, machines, methods, and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
  • Identify and coordinate specific process and system-related training for equipment when required.
  • Develop and utilize appropriate change management processes for process or equipment changes.
  • Lead and manage Engineering Department direct reports.
  • Provide formal and/or informal mentoring; facilitate mentors for new technical employees.
  • Stay current with technical changes and innovation; bring external ideas into the operation.
  • Incorporate principles of lean manufacturing such as 5S and key TPS elements; recommend innovative approaches for continual improvement.
  • Serve as lead resource for development of the Score Engineer progression.
  • Promote fair and consistent adherence to all local and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Foster and maintain good employee relations through effective communication and positive practices.
  • Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree a plus.
  • Green or Black Belt certification a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Good physical condition; able to lift 50 lbs. safely.
  • Vision: 20/20 corrected and normal hearing range.
  • Work performed in all types of weather conditions.
  • Routine climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • 5 to 10 years previous plant/process engineering experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment required; CPG industry experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills-clear and concise in verbal and written formats.
  • Proven ability in process improvement, problem resolution, and project management.
  • Demonstrated record of project completion from conception to operation on time and on budget.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build positive relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid critical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management and data analysis skills.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of liquid filling, labeling, and packaging processes along with chemical liquid batching process.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, MS Project, CMMS, SAP); working knowledge of SAP Maintenance Module, AutoCAD, and computerized applications of SPC.
  • Solid understanding of OE, OTIF, SMED improvement programs.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, GMPs, and/or validation through advanced training.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of production operations, including equipment, materials, and workflow.
