POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for processing cell based products by using instruments such as centrifugation, size exclusion chromatography, gel filtration purification , and vialing antibodies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Use, maintain and troubleshoot AKTA purification systems to perform size exclusion chromatography of antibodies.
  • Coordinate regular equipment maintenance and calibrations; complete and document equipment validation as required in Manufacturing.


  • Perform general cell culture laboratory upkeep to include but not limited to maintaining laboratory cleanliness and supplies, defrosting freezers, preparing, maintaining and reporting reagent inventories, and ensuring laboratory waste is removed.
  • Participating in year-end physical inventory.


  • Ensure all tasks are performed in a manner consistent with safety standards and as instructed by Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Vialing antibody as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)


  • Perform peer review of product labels prior to vialing as the first quality check in the production process and batch recods.
  • Provide input to improve routine manufacturing processes that provide for better quality and quantity of products.


  • Complete appropriate documentation to support process and production procedures including data entry and batch records.
  • Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements.



EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering or related field; or a High School degree with 2 years equivalent applicable work experience in a Laboratory setting.
  • Experience in a GMP/GLP, ISO Certified environment preferred.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities while meeting time-sensitive deadlines and deliverables.
  • Basic knowledge of scientific fundamentals.
  • Ability to follow laboratory safety instructions; ability to use protective equipment.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of laboratory data.


  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of cGMP and/or ISO certification highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of cGMP and/or ISO certification highly preferred
  • Ability to learn additional software applications/tools, as needed.
  • Ability to move/lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Knowledge of JDE is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of AKTA and FPLC/HPLC highly preferred.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods. The individual is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; moving/lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Up to 80% of the day may be spent at a laboratory bench.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Standard industrial laboratory environment.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY:

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $44,300 to $64,300. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
