Summary of Job Duties:The Advanced Practice Nurse/PA will assist surgeon with clinic, organizing visits and performing clinic procedures. Primarily assessing patients in a clinic setting, triaging for PT and interventional pain as well as preparing them to see a surgeon visit as needed. Potentially could assist in the operating room, answer pages and round on post-operative patients on a daily and PRN basis. The APRN will be responsible for managing care of outpatients post-operatively, answering telephone inquiries and filling prescriptions. Nurse must have a high level of expertise to perform assessments/diagnosis/treatment of actual/potential problems of patients Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

APRN:

  • Certification of Nurse Practitioner

  • Master's Degree in Nursing

  • Licensed as a registered nurse and as an advanced practice nurse (APRN) by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.

PA:

  • Master's Degree as Physician Assistant

  • Licensed as a PA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Orthopedic/Neurosurgery

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.

  • Provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician(s).

  • Work autonomously, as well as, in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' healthcare problems; and will serve as a healthcare resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.

  • Coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate. Other duties may be assigned to this position.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
