Job Summary

The Associate Director of Corporate Engagement will focus on a set of priority industries and programs, developing strategies to advance existing relationships as well as new connections in support of the Kellogg School's mission. This includes partnering with faculty, students, and other administrators to identify the right companies, industry leaders and alumni to engage in programs, events, and business development. These engagements include speaker needs, sponsorship opportunities, general industry expertise, and business insights.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead and expert, focusing on a set of priority industries and programs, facilitating strategic connections between industry and Kellogg. This includes advancing existing relationships as well as developing new connections with corporate partners and industry leaders.
  • Identify key stakeholders and influencers within companies and develop relationships with them to advance the partnership; identify one(s) to serve as ambassador(s) for Kellogg.
  • Develop relationships with faculty and centers - work with faculty to support conferences and events to advance their research, identify ways to connect academic experts with industry experts
  • Convene internal partners and ensure optimal industry collaborations, explore cross sector opportunities.
  • Identify [industry and company specific] philanthropic priorities, cultivate and solicit gifts in the $10,000-$250,000 range.
  • Serve as advisor to student leaders when soliciting corporate sponsorships and inviting speakers for student conferences and activities. Coach students on solicitation strategies. Ensure companies and individuals have an optimal experience with these activities.
  • Coach companies on the best way to navigate the institution and partner with different units of Kellogg (research centers, admissions, executive education, career management, advancement)

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7-10 years of business or related experience in client service with sophisticated, demanding clients
  • Experience data mining from public sources

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Maturity, professionalism, and ability to develop a strong brand for Kellogg and self with the school (administration, faculty, students) and externally (senior level executives, alumni, donors, and other corporate representatives)
  • Self starter, initiative, and ability to influence decision makers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience presenting in groups up to 100
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and various databases

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

  • Graduate degree
  • Experience in both the corporate sector and higher education
  • Development experience
  • Experience translating technical / academic language into corporate environment

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Proficiency in Salesforce.com and other CRM systems
  • Experience selling services within a company

Target hiring range for this position will be between $78,000 - $89,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
