Department Information This highly visible role will serve as critical support for the School's Director of Design, Innovation, and Experiential Learning in executing the school's educational objectives. The GWW School of Mechanical Engineering has heavily invested in a new educational facility and equipment for our students, faculty, and staff in the MRDC Building complex. The expectation is 100% in-person, with the occasional requirement to attend pre-scheduled evening events. The ideal candidate will have experience in prototyping/ manufacturing facilities, excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and organization skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and the ability to work independently and/or within a team environment.
Job Summary
Coordinate all operations of an instructional or research laboratory to include overseeing all installments, deliveries, inventory maintenance, and conducting safety training for students. Provide assistance with maintaining facilities. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Students, faculty, staff and internal and external visitors. Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Coordinate facility maintenance for large projects. Maintain laboratory facility in safe, clean and organized manner.
Job Duty 2 - Conduct safety training and project consulting.
Job Duty 3 - Assist with development and maintenance of instruction laboratory experiments.
Job Duty 4 - Coordinate maintenance, installation and acquisition of equipment for the laboratory.
Job Duty 5 - Manage the chemical inventory compliance requirements for the labs. Oversee the proper disposal of hazardous chemicals in the labs.
Job Duty 6 - Coordinate the purchasing of all consumables.
Job Duty 7 - Monitor lab equipment performance and usage; maintain equipment as required.
Job Duty 8 - Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience Two to three years of job related experience

- Ability to gather and interpret fabrication- and safety-related data; able to hold others accountable for adhering to the standards of the workplace; able to identify and communicate hidden hazards.
- Experience in a university environment. Approachable to a wide range of stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff and the ability to teach/train students.
- Ability to operate and maintain hand/power tools, and advanced machinery, including some or all of the following: laser cutting equipment, 3D printing, mechatronics, electrical/electronic instrumentation, waterjet, sawing, drilling, grinding, turning, etc.
- Candidate with experience in utilizing software skills/tools like Excel, Basic HTML, WordPress, Microsoft Forms, online calendar scheduling and management tools, etc. or their equivalent will be highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS Application of technical processes and procedures applicable to assigned laboratory; communications and presentation; inventory management; lab equipment repair; lab safety practices; PC.

Salary range: $23.99 - $32.62 / hourly Location: Onsite (Atlanta, GA) Job grade: S5 This is not a supervisory position. This position does have financial responsibilities. No, this position will not be required to drive. This role is considered a position of trust. This position does require a purchasing card (P-Cd). This position will not travel This position does not require security clearance.
Other Information
This position might need to mentor and supervise student assistants involved with the labs. Other details include:
- Implementing Institute and School's Safety Policies & Protocols within the IDEA lab and Invention Studio.
- Maintaining inventory of tools, materials and machines; assisting with planning, purchasing and delivery of supplies, equipment and services.
- Maintaining/repairing fabrication tools and equipment in the design curriculum facilities.
