Job Description The Cleveland materials department is looking for a competent, experienced tunnel inspector(s) to perform daily inspections of underground tunneling activities. All observations and assigned field activities with regards to the contractor's adherence to the specifications. General Responsibilities: Perform daily inspection of construction projects monitoring quality and adherence to building code requirements, construction drawings and project specifications. Inspections may cross multiple inspection disciplines or within a specified area of expertise including structural steel, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, etc. Inspection may include visual/physical inspection and field testing to verify conformance with the plans and specifications. Prepare inspection reports and provide written documentation of observations and testing of materials. Communicate findings to engineer or project manager and when requested collaborate with the project team on solutions to potential issues. Adhere to strict safety standards. Essential Roles and Responsibilities: Functions as a team member on public improvement contracts. Performs detailed inspection and documents all construction activities on a daily basis. Tracks and documents contractor labor hours by classification, use of contractor equipment and delivery of materials. Monitors construction activities for compliance with the contract document and approved construction submittal. Prepares a daily report in typewritten form on a computer and organizes electronic photographs. Prepares various production data logs on a computer. May perform materials field testing and collection of samples.\\ Attend construction meetings on an as-needed basis. Prepares field sketches to documents as-built conditions. Measures work in place and equipment and materials furnished for purposes of computing progress payments Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in underground TBM mining operations. Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
