JOB TITLE: Warper Operator REPORTS TO: Warping Production Manager PURPOSE: To safely and efficiently operate a wrapper and create first quality warping beams through following set specification RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Operate a warper machine within production standards 2) Inspect yarn shed and creels, meeting set specification requirements. 3) Make corrections and adjustments to quality and production issues 4) Wrap and label completed beams SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 1) Ability to work safely 2) Ability to read and write and follow directions 3) Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions 4) Ability to understand and follow warper operator standard work procedures 5) Ability to identify and classify defects by combination of visually inspecting and touching yarn. 6) Ability to pass warper operator tests and become certified by consistently performing standard work as required. 7) Ability to use and read tools to measure specifications 8) Ability to compute large numbers with a calculator 9) Visual ability to see well enough to lay combs and bring ends up on 30-40 denier yarn. 10) Basic computing skills including opening files, closing files, manipulating windows, and all basic computer functions. 11) Good communication skills MACHINES, TOOLS, MATERIALS, AND EQUIPMENT: Warper Machine, Creeler, calculator, tension device, shore hardness device, Inspection Lights, Apron, Scissors, Retractable Reed Hooks, Pen, Chalk, Tape, Ladder, Yarn, Combs, Beams, Brown Wrapping Paper. AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME: 16 Weeks PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION 1) Standing: Ability to stand while running and inspection warper and creels. 90% of day 2) Moving Move freely throughout the warper department, including walking the machine fronts and walking in the creels 90% of day 3) Lifting: Ability to lift yarn packs 1-20 pounds 10% of day 4) Push Use a broom and dust pan. Push yarn trucks 5% of day 5) Reach: Ability to reach yarn above head and thread through creels 10% of day 6) Bending: Ability to pick up objects from the floor. Ability to bend under yarn sheds and eyeboards 50% of day 7) Access The ability to use step ladders (one, two and three steps.) The ability to ascend and descend catwalks. 90% of day 8) Walking Ability to walk through the plant to get to work station, meeting rooms, break area, and to perform audits. 10% of day 9) Visual Acuity: Ability to see tiny defects in yarn. Perform thorough visual inspection of yarn and yarn shed. Identify large and small defects and correct or document. Read and understand written and computer screens, instructions and specifications. 90% of day 10) Environment: Ability to work around polyester, nylon and acetate 100% of day 11) Environment: Ability to work in a conditioned indoor environment where temperature varies with the weather. 100% of day 11) Environment: Ability to follow defined break schedule 10% 12) Environment: Ability to work in manufacturing environment around powered material handling vehicles and moving mechanical parts. 100% of day 13) Schedule/Attendance: Must be able to rotate with assigned shifts per work schedule.
