JOB TITLE: Warper Support End Changer

REPORTS TO: Warping Production Manager

PURPOSE:

To safely and efficiently add and drop yarn ends when changing sets. To safely and efficiently select, install and lay correct combs according to style specification sheet. To safely and efficiently set warper machine settings to set specification sheet. To safetly and efficiently inspect and correct quality concerns.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Determine the need to add or drop ends for set change, according to set specification sheet
  2. Add or drop ends through the creels and eye boards.
  3. Determine combs needed for set change, according to set specification sheet
  4. Install combs and lay desired ends through all combs, ensuring proper thread-up of the warper
  5. Adjust and set machine according to set specification sheet

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to work safely
  2. Ability to read and write and follow directions
  3. Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
  4. Ability to understand and follow warper yarn changer standard work procedures
  5. Ability to pass warper yarn changer tests and become certified by consistently performing standard work as required.
  6. Ability to use and read tools to measure specifications
  7. Ability to compute large numbers with a calculator
  8. Visual ability to see well enough to lay combs and bring ends up on 30-40 denier yarn.
  9. Ability to operate simple machine controls.
  10. Ability to work as a team.
  11. Good communication skills

MACHINES, TOOLS, MATERIALS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Warper Machines, Creels, Yarn, Combs, Push Cart, Pen, Paper, Calculator, tension device, shorehardness device, Inspection Lights, Apron, Scissors, Retractable Reed Hooks, Pen, Tape, Ladder.

AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME: 12 Weeks

  1. Standing:

Ability to stand, threading warper machine and creels

  1. Moving

Move freely throughout the warper department, including walking creels

Ability to gently pull yarn shed through machine

  1. Push

Use a broom and dust pan. Push yarn trucks

  1. Bending:

Ability to pick up objects from the floor.

  1. Bending

Ability to bend under yarn sheds and eyeboards

  1. Bending

Ability to thread lower yarn packs

  1. Reaching

Ability to reach yarn above head and thread through creels

  1. Access

The ability to use step ladders (one, two and three steps.) The ability to ascend and descend catwalks.

Ability to walk through the plant to get to work station, meeting rooms, break area, and to perform audits.

  1. Visual Acuity:

Ability to see tiny defects in beams. Perform thorough visual inspection of beams and document.

Ability to work around polyester, nylon and acetate

  1. Environment:

Ability to work in a conditioned indoor environment where temperature varies with the weather.
