Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Technical Training Leader to be based out of Harvey, IL. Reporting to the Technical Training Manager, this person will be responsible for developing and administering site-wide hourly training and qualification programs in alignment with Atkore's Frontline Worker Development Program. This person will create, implement, and maintain programs that connect employees with performance expectations; consult with leadership to develop the workforce; and ensure employees meet job competence, as a coach and mentor in the Regional Service Center.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of previous experience in the metal industry and experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:



  • Develop, coordinate, and/or conduct job-specific and process training programs to ensure production teammates are trained on their job functions.
  • Provide technical writing resources to ensure accurate Work Instructions are developed and maintained for all processes.
  • Ensure production teammates are trained on individual job functions and training is documented.
  • Work closely with Operations Leadership, Manufacturing Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisors, and Engineering to ensure processes are accurate, documented, and changes are made and communicated.


What you'll bring:



  • HS Diploma/GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years in the manufacturing industry, specifically with Atkore preferred.
  • 1 - 3 years of previous supervisory experience in steel manufacturing preferred.
  • Computer literate in spreadsheets and word applications and the ability to analyze reports and performance metrics.
  • Develop and administer technical skills training for hourly frontline employees through online, classroom, and on-the-job training methodologies.


  • Manage the onboarding of newly hired hourly frontline employees.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to hourly frontline employees throughout the training and qualification periods.
  • Manage and participate in qualification assessments, re-qualification, and cross-training activities.
  • Help drive the development of standardized jobs and qualifications, as well as an annual review and maintenance process.
  • Proven experience in driving training initiatives related to job qualification and/or organization realignment and competency.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Learning Management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, change management, problem-solving, project management, and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, both written and verbal.

Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process.
  • Gain an understanding of your team and procedures your team uses.



Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Align work priorities with Atkore's strategic direction and deliver practical business solutions.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct corporate-sponsored training programs for site personnel.
  • Ensure production teammates are trained on individual job functions and training is documented.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Inspire a culture of accountability and actively drive individuals toward desired training outcomes Develop and conduct initial new associate and refresher programs to ensure all company, customer, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Develop, coordinate, and/or conduct job-specific and process training programs to ensure production teammates are trained on their job functions.
  • Work closely with Operations Leadership, Manufacturing Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisors, and Engineering to ensure processes are accurate, documented, and changes are made and communicated.
  • Implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiencies of shop, department, and work crew.
  • Develop processes to help the organization manage change, including building strategic working relationships throughout the organization.

    As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $67,040 - $92,180. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
