The Opportunity
We are seeking a Full Time (40 hour) Nocturnist Physician Assistant to join our nighttime Hospitalist team at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. The Nocturnist PA will collaborate with hospitalist physicians, peer nocturnist PAs, consultants, ED providers, nurses, and others to provide high-quality, efficient care for patients on the Hospitalist Service. PAs will have on-site supervision and support provided by Hospitalist physician colleagues. In terms of schedule, shifts are generally blocked in groups of 4-5 sequential shifts at a time with scheduled time off in-between blocks, but with sufficient flexibility to allow for PA requests for time off. Shifts in total average to a 40-hour work week. The nighttime team consists of approximately 3 PAs and 3 physicians each shift, overlapping with evening PA and physician colleagues. The shifts are currently 13 hours (7:00pm-8:00am) but shifts and schedule may change based on the needs of the service and to enhance job sustainability. We are located on the NWH Main Campus at 2014 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02462.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Nocturnist Physician Assistant collaborates with the nighttime team of PAs and attending hospitalists in providing high quality inpatient care for patients on the medical service. Nocturnist PA responsibilities include:
- Cross-coverage of non-housestaff patients on the medical service
- Admission of medical patients to the non-house staff service
- Triage of Emergency Department admissions and partner hospital transfers to the medical service
- Distribution of medical patients to daytime hospitalists and teams
- Sign out of overnight events to the primary daytime teams
- Thorough and timely documentation
- Psychological, emotional, and informational support to patients and their families
- Participation in quality assurance projects

Qualifications

- Master's Degree from a Physician Assistant program approved by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP)

- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

- Certification from the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
