The Lead Therapist collaborates and supports the leadership team with the overall functions and personnel within the Regional site, as directed by the Executive Director/Director of Operations. Initiates and/or maintains positive working relationships with all peers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Executive Director/Director of Operations to coordinate the activities of all clinical staff.

  • Oversee and assure effective discharge planning in a timely manner performed by Social Services staff.
  • Complete medical record documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide effective group, individual, and/or family therapy as necessary.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary staffing by being prepared to discuss each patient's case as directed.

Assist in the management of department staff and function.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director/Director of Operations to establish goals for direct reports that are consistent with the goals and Mission of Rogers Behavioral Health.
    • Communicate goals to staff.
    • Develop methods of measuring goal achievement. Evaluate and report to the Executive Director/Director of Operations.
  • Implement and educate staff on department policies and procedures with the input of department staff, management staff, and medical staff.
    • Requirements and guidelines from external agencies; i.e., Joint Commission, State.
    • Assist in the education of external department staff members about regulations or requirements of those functions that relate to their areas or departments.
    • Incorporate acceptance and training of student interns in the department.

Participate in the orientation and training of new employees according to accurate and current job descriptions.

  • Assist in the development of job descriptions.
  • Assist in the development of a training program that incorporates job descriptions with policies and procedures.
  • Advise the Executive Director/Director of Operations re: staff performance so that such feedback can be incorporated into the employee performance evaluations.

Demonstrate understanding of Joint Commission and other regulatory agency compliance regulations.

  • Involve self in the learning and application of standards relevant to Social Services.
  • Participate in inservices/seminars and other meetings to increase involvement and awareness of regulations.
  • Involve self in the education of other disciplines regarding Social Services regulations.

Plan for department needs effectively through involvement in the Hospital's budgeting process.

  • Organize department needs to be included in the annual budget and report to the Executive Director/Director of Operations.
  • Monitor and communicate to the Executive Director/Director of Operations adherence and/or variance to budgeting restraints.
  • Manage FTE expenditures with compliance to the FTE budget. Advise the Executive Director/Director of Operations of any variance to budget.
  • Assist with management of capital and other operational expenditures with compliance to the related budget.
    Maintain an understanding of any variance and its impact on the department budget.

Participate in committees, meetings, and team projects.

  • Demonstrate punctuality and preparedness.
  • Demonstrate effective chairperson skills.
    • Exhibit good organizational skills with agenda and minute preparation.
    • Be able to facilitate a meeting to keep it on track.
    • Contribute in a positive, solution-focused manner.

Provide timely communication on performance of Social Services staff to the Executive Director/Director of Operations.

  • Promote a team environment by example and by participating in workload completion, when necessary.
  • Interact with employees in a sensitive, positive manner.
  • Understand and use the Human Resources policies and procedures manual.
  • Involve the Human Resources Business Partner in any potentially volatile employee-related situation.
  • Communicate with employees promptly when incidents arise that may be a detriment to their performance or to the Hospital in general.
  • Assist employees in professional growth.
  • Develop a working schedule that provides consistency in coverage and potential for future recruitment.
  • Implement performance standards by which employees are measured.
  • Assist in the development of measurements for competence within each area of responsibility.
  • Participate in department meetings to provide timely communication and problem resolution.
  • Lead department meetings in the absence of the Executive Director/Director of Operations as directed.

Assist Clinical Director with providing supervision to all clinical staff.

  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of organized, regular supervision of staff.
  • Follow cases to provide for feedback for the improvement of the quality of care delivered by staff.
  • Orientation and supervision of clinical interns
    • All graduate level interns will receive weekly supervision unless otherwise specified by training agreement with educational institution.
    • Supervision will be tracked and logged to identify content of supervision and focused goals for improvement.

Implement and evaluate audits of specific staff performance to improve quality of care.

  • Assist with the auditing of medical records for quality care and consistency.
  • Conduct audits of patient medical records for assigned partial hospital and intensive outpatient programs.
  • Rotate programs audited among the assigned program based on 20% of daily census (i.e. census of 30/3 random charts from this program to be audited).
    • Record results of audited records to make recommendations as to error or quality trends to be improved.
    • These audits include treatment plans; treatment plan signatures; interventions; documentation to the treatment plan; completeness of assessments; quality of information in assessments; referent/provider contacts; follow-up care within seven (7) days of discharge; treatment notes.
  • Provide feedback, education and observations to the Executive Director/Director of Operations so he/she may conduct performance management as needed.

Assist in the recruitment process.

  • Complete the necessary recruitment and hiring documents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in conducting interviews that are comprehensive, fair, and lead to a timely recruitment decision.

Participate in the Rogers Operating System (ROS) program.

  • Gain understanding of the ROS process.
  • Apply the ROS model to department functions.
  • Participate in and/or create ROS teams that lead to improvement in own and other areas.
  • Educate and involve employees to Rogers Behavioral Health and Social Services department's ROS monitoring and activities.

Participate in Rogers' marketing plan.

  • Assist in the development of a department customer service/public relations plan.
  • Interact with the Development and Marketing Lead for the corresponding regional location to communicate customer-related issues as directed. Participate in the customer feedback process, when necessary.
  • Educate staff about Rogers' marketing plan as needed.
  • Participate in department site-specific Marketing activities.

Conduct self in a professional manner.

  • Demonstrate organizational skills that promote timely response to all inquiries and to project completion.
  • Communicate with all individuals in a positive and professional manner.
  • Attempt to resolve individual issues with peers in a positive, calm manner, with a focus on solution.
  • Communicate concerns and provide solutions for same.
  • Attend outside seminars to promote professional growth.
  • Interact with external professional peers to create a professional network.
  • Comply with the Hospitals policies and procedures, as well as Human Resources, Infection Control and Employee Health programs.
  • Project a professional image by wearing appropriate, professional attire.

Additional Job Description:

Education/Training Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work, Counseling, or a related field,
  • Licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is preferred, as is licensure as a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) or Master's Level Certified Addictions Professional (MCAP).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical services management experience in a health care setting.
  • A minimum of four (4) years' experience in health care; at least two (2) years' experience in a psychiatric facility.
  • An understanding and a thorough knowledge of the following: social service administration, supervision, consultation, the community and its resources, the dynamics of human growth and behavior, therapy skills and techniques for all age groups.
  • Current American Heart Association CPR certification or American Red Cross Professional Rescue is required within thirty (30) days of date of hire. Bi-annual re-certification is required.
  • Formal training in the management of the aggressive patient (NCI) is required within sixty (60) days of date of hire. Annual re-certification is required.

Pay Transparency Requirements:

  • Compensation for Lead Therapist is between $82,500.00 to $127,258.56 and placement in the range will vary based on years of experience and education.

We anticipate the length of application window to be 45 days for this position.
