Overview

Do YOU want to make a difference in the safety and health of people's lives? CAES Missile Systems, in San Jose, CA is currently seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Engineer (EHS) Engineer. The EHS Engineer as part of CAES EHS team is responsible for driving and supporting the program. This role will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance for local, state, and federal agencies and CAES EHS policies.


Responsibilities

  • Support environmental permitting and compliance (such as waste water, air, hazardous waste, etc.)
  • Ensure EHS procedures reflect all current local, state, and federal regulations; Develop and implement corrective actions and appropriate trainings to ensure all applicable regulations are addressed.
  • Complete required safety/maintenance tasks to maintain compliance to permit requirements.
  • Perform workplace assessments & implement improvements where needed for ergonomics, GHS compliance, & electrical safety. Identify and assess various exposure risk factors and solutions.
  • Establish, support and improve programs related to emergency preparedness, ergonomics, hazardous waste management, and other safety related topics. Give training as required on these topics.
  • Complete hands-on tasks in handling waste/chemical material/facilities equipment checks. This will also include providing backup support for chemical technician tasks.
  • Provide support to areas outside of safety including facilities as part of a cross-functional team. This could include writing procedures or helping do daily checks to verify equipment is functioning correctly.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Studies, Occupational Safety or other EHS related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in EHS related position.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in EHS related position.
  • Must be enthusiastic about process improvement, a self-starter, and driven to improve and sustain initiatives.
  • Experience in the manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must show attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

Salary Range: $74,000 - $110,000 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
