Job Overview

The Sleep Tech Assistant is a support position that focuses on sleep study monitoring under the direct supervision. Sleep Tech Assistants will perform a variety of basic sleep study procedures including, acquisition of quality, artifact-free sleep study recordings, monitoring sleep study patients, and recognizing abnormalities and technical issues.

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

Neonate - <30 days

Infancy - >30 days to 1yr

Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs

Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs

School age - >5yrs to 13yrs

Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs

Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

Calibrates and maintains equipment and lab in good and clean condition. Reports malfunction as needed.

Assist in the completion of all paperwork/forms for procedure being performed. Assists with special projects, potentially including archiving and database entry.

Follows the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines for proper sleep study electrode placement, including International 10-20 System for proper electrode application.

Identifies and performs basic equipment troubleshooting and artifice identification and elimination with supervision or assistance.

Maintains a safe working environment utilizing policies and procedures relative to safety, infection control, standard precautions and risk management.

Observers and notates ongoing clinical and technical changes. Completes annotations and descriptions for patient events.

Minimizes risks of harm to patients, foster communication and support effective teamwork by following departmental and organization practices and procedures.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $44,410.53 to $66,615.79
Hourly Salary Range: $21.35 to $32.03
