Position Overview
Jayhawk Online is seeking a Program Manager with experience in providing oversight and project management to multiple, concurrent, and complex multi-year projects. The Program Manager will work closely with faculty and staff development teams across The University of Kansas to manage a variety of projects, monitor a portfolio of projects, and work with the Jayhawk Global leadership in the development of online learning initiatives, including courses and programs.

We especially seek candidates with higher-education experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Project management
  • Process improvement
  • Quality control processes
  • Matrix working environments
  • Change management

Job Description
50% - Development and Management of Online Courses and Programs
  • Manage and oversee multiple, concurrent, and complex multi-year projects.
  • Monitor timelines and deliverables for multiple, concurrent, and complex multi-year projects.
  • Identify project resource needs (staffing, finances, infrastructure, operational) by reviewing project objectives and schedules.
  • Negotiate with project stakeholders and partners to obtain resources needed to achieve the goals of prioritized projects.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of planning methods, techniques, and existing processes to ensure proper functioning.
  • Train and/or supervise personnel as needed.
25% - Communicate and Collaborate with Internal and External Partners
  • Prepare and disseminate project documents to a variety of audiences in a variety of modalities.
  • Develop and effectively communicate presentations (virtual or in-person) to a range of stakeholder and partner audiences.
  • Collaborate with project leads, project stakeholders, and partners to identify and resolve project risks and technical issues.
  • Partner with cross-functional team leads to identify opportunities for short- and long-term project support and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Produce and/or review written text, instructional resources, and/or technical reports for a variety of media.
20% - Financial and Reporting
  • Monitor program budgets, ensuring that related expenses are property funded and tracked.
  • Generate routine reports regarding development activities.
  • Compile data for program analysis and performance improvement.
  • Develop reports and materials required by Jayhawk Global partners, in consultation with Jayhawk Online leadership.
  • Support Jayhawk Online leadership in quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
5% - Other Duties as Assigned

Position Requirements
Well-qualified candidates may be allowed a work location that is hybrid. This position will be required to be in Lawrence on a regular schedule and travel to other locations as needed. This position will require attendance at regularly scheduled meetings, onsite or through telecommunication platforms.

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience OR Master's degree.
  2. Experience managing multiple, concurrent, and complex projects using a variety of project management tools and/or processes i.e. PERT, PgMP, DASM, DASSM, PMI-ACP, Prosci, Lean Six Sigma, etc, as evidenced by work history, professional training, or applications materials.
  3. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and web conferencing tools as evidenced by application materials.
  4. Excellent communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
  5. Experience using databases or other electronic systems for tracking and managing information as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. PMI PMP certification
  2. Master's degree with minimum of five years of relevant higher education experience with program management, academic advising, or curriculum development.
  3. Experience with initiatives designed to increase efficiency of development projects and cross-team collaboration such as matrix management.
  4. Successful experience working in a multidisciplinary, team-based environment, both in person and virtually, as evidenced by work history, professional training, or a combination of both.
  5. At least one year of experience supervising staff.
  6. At least one year of experience with curriculum development of new academic program development.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively to organize and track projects and meet deadlines.
  8. Working knowledge of the University of Kansas systems and processes as evidenced by application materials.
