Experienced and competent in payroll-related items and work independently or with minimal supervision with payroll validation. This includes and not limited to the following: earnings, deductions, and taxation on regular and On Demand payments, input pay and T4 reconciliation (earnings/deductions/taxes), garnishment processing, union pay, benefits (deductions and Leave pay), termination pay rules, familiar and able to reference/ implement payroll rules and best practices.

Provides resolution for wide range of complex payroll related discrepancies and payroll related questions accurately and timely (based on Service Level Agreements) with minimal to no supervision. These come in the form of cases, emails, and daily reports/tasks. This includes and is not limited to the following: On Demand check creation and validation, earning and deduction taxation inquiries, pay and T4 reconciliation, garnishment processing, union pay, benefits (deductions and STD), terminations, wage requests and similar requests for earnings.

Achieve results and meet deadlines with minimal to no direction when working on assigned activities and or projects by knowing or being able to follow established procedures and instructions provided. Using professional judgement on analyzing data and ensuring timely and accurate completion on assigned tasks. Must be able to fully understand what is required to process ROEs on employee's behalf according to company and Service Canada guidelines.

Update and create Desk Top Procedures/Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for assigned tasks as needed.

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

Education/Training -

  • Advanced education preferred, but not required
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Preferred Certified Payroll Profession (FPC, CPP)

Business Experience -

  • Minimum 2 years payroll processing experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in multi-state payroll environment.
  • Preferred Working knowledge of Workday, ADP, ServiceNow, garnishments, banking, and Record of Employment.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills -

General

  • Experienced and fully competent in payroll best practices and is proficient in specific areas (i.e., garnishments, unions, benefits, taxes) with moderate guidance.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and taxes.
  • Ability to complete work assignments independently while contributing to a team environment
  • Attention to detail and the ability to enter and validate information accurately.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential material.
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a heavy volume fast paced environment and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • Receptive to coaching and instruction from management.
  • Ability to adapt and remain positive during changes to processes and working conditions.
  • Ability to identify and communicate process improvements and develop resolution.

Knowledge

  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel.
  • Working and technical knowledge of Workday, ADP, ServiceNow, garnishments, terminations. Record of Employment and banking.

Communication

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate needs/suggestions in a positive constructive manner.
  • Strong professional communication skills in listening, verbalization, and writing.
  • Able to follow detailed instructions on assigned work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of management internally and externally.
  • Ability to present and communicate with internal and external business partners.

Working Conditions:

Environment (Office, warehouse, etc.) -

  • Work From Home
  • Traditional office environment.

Physical Requirements (Lifting, standing, etc.) -

  • A substantial percentage of time performing computer-based work is required.
