Job Summary
The Scanning Specialist will review all incoming documents sent from the clinic locations. After review, scanned documents will be linked in EpicCare to a specific patient order, a specific patient encounter, or at the patient level itself. Commitment to Prevea's mission, vision, values will be demonstrated through excellence in customer service, superior teamwork skills, and assisting in populating the Electronic Medical Record with the information the providers and staff need to give superior health care to Prevea patients.

    * Reports any ergonomic concerns to his/her supervisor so that an ergonomic evaluation may be done. Employee is responsible for following any ergonomic recommendations given.

  • EPICCARE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (This may not include all duties assigned.)
    * Understands how to Navigate in the Epic System as needed to complete his/her job
    * Is trained and competent to use the scanning equipment
    * Is trained and competent to use the label printers, and affixes the system generated bar code labels in the correct location on each document.
    * Understands where each document sent to scanning, should be scanned to. Utilizes the document scanning decision document as a reference
    * Is able to place orders as needed for scanning of documents
    * Is able to open encounters as needed for scanning of documents
    * Sends copies of any documents not on the decision document to scanning supervisor so the document is reviewed, added to the decision document, and gets the appropriate approval to add to the EMR, with the appropriate destination
    * Completes required EpicCare Computer Based training classes
    * Attends required EpicCare classroom training sessions
    * Completes peer audits as requested

Education Qualifications
  • A minimum of one-year post secondary education

Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years One year of experience in a healthcare environment
