We have a job opening and exciting opportunity for a full-time Government Account Manager in any of our Concordance locations.

The primary role of a Government Account Manager (GAM), as an individual contributor, is the growth of new government business (Federal/State/MMCAP and Private Sector) opportunities in their respective region and/or market segment in a manner that promotes overall profitability improvement that consistently exceeds budget and is in line with the corporate strategic objectives. The GAM will work to establish productive, professional relationships with key decision makers and influencers in their assigned region, market, and GPOs to identify new opportunities and win new contract awards. The GAM, is responsible for maintaining existing business, closing new business, and achieving the goals and objectives outlined in the corporate plan.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities includes the market capture of new business through new contract awards, sourcing of products/services, and utilization/expansion of existing contract vehicles to drive profitable revenue that consistently exceeds budget goals. Introduce and present the Concordance value proposition to target Private Sector customers. Attend Federal/State/MMCAP Government healthcare supply chain networking events to promote Concordance. Develop relationships and lines of communication with all key members of supply chain in each account. Build strong relationships with internal/external customers, and suppliers to multiply efforts in closing new Private Sector contracts and Bid Responses. The individual will be responsible for executing on the strategy for the Private Sector market segment to help achieve the financial and sales objectives that are set out. In addition, the GAM will be responsible for providing information to senior management regarding our performance with customers, growth opportunities and our business funnel, competitive activity, emerging trends in the industry, and best practices.



  • Be a market disrupter, aggressively closing incremental profitable sales and taking market share from the competition.
  • Conduct In-person customer meetings with Private Sector personnel, contracting officers, and various state/county/city/local municipality government agencies
  • Be a self-starter leader & Individual contributor that can quickly ramp up, learning our systems and value prop, and work autonomously with little supervision.
  • Build strong relationships with customers to ensure trusted advisor status in existing accounts and business development in new accounts.
  • Work with vendor relations team to determine best processes for supporting focus vendors, including new products, incentive programs, growth, promotions and sales spiffs.
  • Attend industry conferences, customer events and internal meetings as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Government Business Development and Government VP providing strong communication channels and the sharing of information.
  • Overnight travel required up to 70% of time or as needed based upon request.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What You Will Need To Be Successful:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Minimum of 7-10 years of Government Sales experience.



  • Be a Team Player that promotes Concordance Company Culture, inspires coworkers, and works cooperatively with internal customers to address customer needs.



  • Fluent in Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel.



  • Experience accessing Private Sector government agencies and either have or can obtain access credentials.



  • Understanding of federal/MMCAP/State Government procurement methods and GPO contracting vehicles.



  • Professional selling skills (PSS program or other applicable training or experience) preferred.



  • Demonstrate excellent presentation, verbal and written skills; and ability to speak in front of large groups.



  • Demonstrate strong negotiation and closing skills.



  • Thorough understanding of Federal and State Government buying practices, to include knowledge of FAR, GWAC, BPA, OTA, IDIQ, Unsolicited Proposals, AbilityOne and other federal contract vehicles and requirements/clauses.



  • Ability to interpret requirements in Statements of Work (SOW), Performance Work Statements (PWS), Requests for Proposals (RFP)/Requests for Quotes (RFQ), as well as included State and federal Acquisition Regulations.



  • Ability to negotiate with high-ranking Private Sector acquisition and agency personnel.



  • Expertise sourcing products/service for the customer.



  • Ability to work well with and maintain professionalism when interacting with internal and external customers.



  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key business partners by building personal credibility and trust.



  • Proven experience with business development and account management across multiple geographies.


  • Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check and drug screening.
