Position Summary

The University of New Mexico College of Nursing (CON) is seeking a Financial Aid Officer to join the Enrollment Services team. The Financial Aid Officer will meet with nursing students and evaluate, approve, and award financial aid in accordance with Federal, State, and University regulations, policies, and operating guidelines. This is an in-person, on campus position that will assess the financial needs for new and continuing students within all nursing programs to determine eligibility while providing financial aid counseling on available options, resources, processes and requirements. This position uses professional judgement to evaluate student academic progress and adjudicate academic progress appeals. Maintains a database of applications and other information received and prepares routine statistical reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to the planning, management, and continuous improvement of systems and procedures, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and objectives.
  • Manage individual student accounts, while ensuring they are executed in accordance with the department's overarching mission.
  • Coordinate and lead FASFA workshops, presentations, and outreach events, representing the department with professionalism and commitment to student success.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills by managing multiple tasks efficiently, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Uphold a commitment to outstanding customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns with empathy and timely follow-through.
  • Working to ensure that these resources are effectively communicated and accessible to students.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with the ability to independently manage projects while contributing to team goals. Strong analytical, communication, and inter-professional skills are essential to success in this role.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
