Job Summary

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is in search of a Fiscal Analyst Senior. The Fiscal Analyst Senior serves as a designated subject matter expert and plays an important role in providing advanced professional financial analysis for the college. Supporting the assigned functions of finance, payroll, and budgeting, this role is suited for a self-starter that dives into analytics, enjoys creating reports, discovers trends, and has the effective communication skills needed to explain important data to key stakeholders. Along with the responsibility of compiling and managing the college's annual budget, attention to detail is highly desired as this position gives valuable support and direction to a variety of campus partners involving financial transactions and policy interpretation.

While working independently, the Fiscal department is looking for an individual that can collaborate with the team to improve current processes and strategically plan for future fiscal years. Seeking diverse skills and experience, we look forward to reviewing the variety of qualifications that will add great value to this team.

Essential Functions

35% - Utilizes budget system, financial system, and human resource system to perform highly complex financial and statistical analyses and reporting, budget and actual variance analysis, scenario planning, and fiscal research; Works closely with payroll staff to ensure accuracy of transactions; Reviews and verifies budget authority and processes hiring documents;

30% - Handles complex financial analysis and makes recommendations on accounting corrections/adjustments within the enterprise financial analysis; Serves as a subject matter expert on appropriate accounting methods, allowable costs, and interdependencies of Financial Management System (FMS) and Human Capital Management (HCM) system data; Prepares ongoing costs and projections;

25% - Assists in the development and submission of the college annual budget; Prepares budget allocations, transfers and monitors operating budget. Communicates and collaborates with District office division and college budget managers regarding budget and position management; Creates monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for college staff, and executive leadership.

10% - Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in finance, accounting or directly related field and four years of experience providing advanced professional financial analysis and support for assigned function of finance, payroll or budgeting related to area of assignment.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Master's degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Statistics, Math, or Public Administration

B. Minimum of three (3) years' experience using Microsoft Excel (Pivot, Power Pivot, Vlookup), Power BI, Word, and/or PowerPoint

C. Minimum of three (3) years' experience creating reports and using data to track, analyze, and present fiscal outcomes

D. Minimum of two (2) years' experience with PeopleSoft ERP (Financial and Human Resource System), Hyperion Budgeting, and/or other ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems

E. Experience in building and working effectively with diverse stakeholder groups

Special Working Conditions

Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
May require prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.
This position requires a physical presence on campus with possible partial remote work depending on business needs to best serve the students, department, and college.
Will be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily
