Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field required or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years of experience in an accounting or finance related position.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Excel software, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with the ability to apply to business transactions.
  • Analytical ability.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize appropriately and meet deadlines.
  • Sense of urgency with the ability to respond quickly to internal and external customer requests.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

Summary

Responsible for supporting the finance department planning, developing, and administering complex financial planning and analysis associated with all capital and strategic projects. Closely work with all departments, particularly software development as well as research and development, on all projects to accurately account and measure investments and returns.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares annual budget and quarterly guidance updates for all capital projects.
  • Generates appropriate financial analysis for all projects, such as break-even and return on investment to evaluate financial feasibility for proposed projects.
  • Collaborates with the Accounting team to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and track actual expenses and performance against budget and guidance monthly, identifying any discrepancies, as well as recommending corrective actions.
  • Identifies financial risks with projects and develops strategies to mitigate any identified risks.
  • Works closely with R&D and Software development teams to accurately track spend for all projects and ensure timing for capitalization.
  • Supports the Accounting in the month-end process ensuring the accuracy of construction in process, CIP, account and reconciliation, as well as timing for the closure of open projects to initiate depreciation of accumulated expenses.
  • Prepare monthly reporting package of all projects, with analysis of their spend profile to both budget and guidance to review with department heads and project teams.
  • Collects and gains a deep understanding of all variances and root causes for all capital projects.
  • Develop and maintain project dashboards with all key financial information, variance explanations, and performance indicators to present to division and corporate leadership.
  • Identifies and recommends improvements to systems, processes, and procedures to improve efficiencies and accuracy within the capital projects arena.
  • Performs other ad hoc duties, reporting, analysis as requested.
