Wayne County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is eager to welcome a patient, compassionate and organized person to join their dedicated team as an Aging Care Manager 1. In this role, you will assist senior citizens within your community in finding resources for a more productive, safe, and happy life. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

An Aging Care Manager 1 works with older adults from initial contact with individuals, their families, and professionals through ongoing care management responsibilities. This includes specialized duties such as Protective Services, Care Transitions, and Person-Center Counseling. You will maintain a caseload of consumers and be involved in necessary areas of assistance. You may have the opportunity to regularly coordinate services with physicians, community agencies, and financial institutions. Our ideal candidate must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and pay close attention to detail. Paperwork and assignments must be completed in a timely manner, always meeting deadlines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment. 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • On-call hours may be required.
  • Some out of County overnight travel may be required.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years as an Aging Case Aide 2; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by twelve (12) credits in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, or Wayne counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
