POSITION DESCRIPTION: LANDSCAPING GROUNDS LABORER March 1st through November 30th The work hours are from 7:00 AM-3:30 PM; Monday-Friday. INTRODUCTION Under the supervision of the Grounds Foreman, performs those grounds tasks necessary to meet Landscape contract specifications. RESPONSIBILITIES *1. Cuts lawns, using hand mower or power mower. *2. Trims and edges around walks, flower beds and walls, using clippers and edging tools. 3. Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears. *4. Rakes leaves and cleans or sweeps up litter using spiked stick or broom. 5. Shovels snow from walks and driveways. 6. Spreads salt on public passage ways. *7. Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs. 8. Waters lawn and shrubs during dry periods using hose or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler system. *9. Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts, using shovel and rake. 10. May operate walking type power mowers, snow blowers, roto tillers or riding mowers. 11. May operate chain saws, hedge trimmers and other hand held power operated tools to prune, cultivate, shovel, trim, cut and dig. 12. May use tractor equipped with attachments, such as mowers, lime or fertilizer spreaders and lawn roller. 13. May perform a variety of laboring duties when yard work is completed. 14.
