What You Will Do:

The Assistant Director of Military Outreach and Enrollment will be responsible for creating a local and regional strategy to position the university as a leader in serving students with military backgrounds and their family members. This individual will also be a key member of the team to develop and lead the national strategy for military enrollment. This position will be responsible for executing the Enrollment and Outreach strategic plan to meet and exceed new student enrollment goals as they relate to engaging and enrolling current and former members of the military. This includes building relationships, lead generation, strategic planning and execution, community engagement, participating and conducting local and regional recruitment events, and working with students to ensure they successfully move through the enrollment process for the military and veteran populations.



Essential Responsibilities

    Enrollment: Discovers, cultivates, and enroll new student leads and applicants with military background from point of contact through the enrollment process. Collaborate with the enrollment directors, faculty and enrollment teams on a regular basis, providing updates on activity.
  • Outreach: Represent NLU in military bases, community colleges, VA centers, conventions, events, career fairs, expos, etc. Be able to identify and reach decision makers within organizations and effectively promote NLU programs to the military and veteran community.
  • Strategy: Develop a strategy to gain awareness for the university in the military market. With full ownership for a local and regional strategy, work with a broader team plan a national strategy for military awareness and student recruitment for the university. Take a strategic and tactical approach to focus on growing particular programs or areas that best align with active and veteran interests and needs.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with students in an educational setting and/or experience in a sales environment.
  • Ability to network and develop relationships
  • Ability to take an active role in identifying new business opportunities, assessing the risks involved and comparing those to the potential advantages of taking action
  • Self-starter with the ability to plan follow through, measure and track progressive goals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with using student information systems, preferred.
  • Knowledge of social media tools such as Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter.
  • Strong understanding of military educational benefits
  • Experience working with the military or military student (preferably in a higher education setting), preferred
  • Ability to travel locally as needed (possibly over 50% of the time)
  • Military experience strongly preferred
